LOEWE is Creating Clothes Out of Oranges
How the brand turned oranges into a sustainable clothing collection.
Spanish brand LOEWE collaborated with the textile companies Pyratex and Orange Fiber to create clothing made from orange peels.
Pyratex is a textile company that uses orange fiber to create sustainable and high-performing fabrics.
The innovative material is called Citrea. It is developed through extracted cellulose from discarded orange juice and pulp. The cellulose is then spun into threads that become the material for the clothing.
LOEWE’s commitment to sustainability led to the partnership and eco-friendly collection: Paula’s Ibiza 2025 Collection.

Materials Used
Loewe works with high quality, low impact materials that are sourced and produced with the planet in mind.
They source leather certified by the international organization Leather Working Group (LWG) that evaluates the environmental compliance of the leather industry.
They experiment by utilizing recycled and upcycled fabrics, and use an increasing amount of organically grown cotton in the products they make, using non-toxic pesticides, improved soil quality and saving water.
In 2021, The Surplus Project was launched as a new way to re-use the surplus material from previous LOEWE collections to create new collections with low impact.
Manufacturing Process
Work with suppliers who are environmentally and socially conscious, and who strive to limit their environmental impact.
Their manufacturers comply with the applicable legal and environmental regulations, from actively seeking to improve the performance of LOEWE products, to taking clear steps to reduce CO2 emissions in the manufacturing process.
They perform regular audits across our supply chain to ensure these commitments are being met — including SMETA audits (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world.
Sustainable Packaging
LOEWE uses low impact packaging materials, reduces excess packing, utilizes foldable shoe boxes, implements circular economy systems and optimizes space during transportation.
The paper in LOEWE shopping bags and final customer boxes comes from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests, considered to be the gold standard in responsibly managed wood harvesting.
Use recycled cotton in felt bag products.
LOEWE is a luxury fashion brand that continually strives to make environmentally friendly actions across business sectors.
